Jared is back and Pics!
Jared is back! Yes and has been back for a while now but I wanted to wait and post when I had pics which was not until today! The first few days he was home he was still a bit dizzy which was interesting but he got some really great photos. I couldn't chose which to post so I'm going to post them all!

Jared on Friday

The week is finally coming to an end. I had a productive day yesterday recording as much footage as I could. I managed to get some walk throughs of Hylas, Atalanta and Marv. I captured the launch of these vehicles for use in editing projects back at base. The food on Endeavor is very good. There is quite a selection so you really can't go wrong. I had Swordfish yesterday and mashed potatoes. Other than that not too much else is going on. We've got a couple of ROV/AUV launches this afternoon/evening and that's about it. I don't know if we start heading back tomorrow or Sunday.
At least he's able to eat! I'll post more when I hear more.

More Garden Pics
Last night was a gorgeous night! Beautiful weather and a beautiful sunset. My brother slept over to keep me company. We played a few games of HORSE (or we played GIRAFFE, RAINBOW and DAD). I won 2 out of 3 but usually he kicks my butt.
I haven't heard anything else from Jared so I'm getting anxious again. I'm just glad we're at the half way point and Monday is just around the corner. For all of you that don't see your spouses everyday and talk to them everyday, more power to ya! I don't know how you do it...
I got some requests for some garden updates so here they are!
The sunset was so pretty. You can barely see the hint of pink here. Photos can never capture it properly.

Finally heard from Jared!
Jared is sailing the high seas and I've not heard from him at all. Most couples are probably not like us. We talk to each other at least 4 times a day during work via phone or email. Then we're home together at night each night. So we're used to being together all the time and talking all the time.
So when he's out to sea with no means of communication, it's rather difficult. After the 24 hour mark of not hearing from him (which was yesterday around 9 a.m. and no I'm not counting...) panic started to set in. I did not go anywhere with out my cell phone in hand. I checked my email every 23 seconds. Basically I was pathetic. Pathetic enough to call Jared's office and see if they had heard anything. I know, I'm one of those wives.
Last night I barely slept having ship disaster nightmares and feeling a bit seasick myself. The cats are driving me bonkers! Jared will get a beating when he does come home. I never realized how much he spoils them. Now with him gone I have to pay the consequences. Which means getting up at 4 a.m. every day to let Smudge out. And being awake for the next three hours without fail because Sooty thinks it's awake time and is playing non stop trying to eat your feet.
But this morning in my exhausted stooper, I checked my email first thing and got an email from the secretary at IFE. They've not heard from the ship but they are not far from their destination. I was very relieved knowing it had not sunk.
Then when I got to work I had an email from Jared. Finally!
He writes: "Just to let you know that I'm alive. I have been quite ill and sick being on the boat. I miss you lots. I never want to feel like this again. Internet is intermidant. I'll e-mail when I can."
Poor thing. I guess the meds are not working. He's been on the boat for 48 hours now (I swear I'm not counting). He's got until Monday at 4 p.m. Let's hope things get better rather than worse. Although the hurricane path and strength is still undetermined, I'm hoping the swells are not too overwhelming for my poor hubby. Pray for him!!

Jared's 2nd Expedition has begun
Jared's second expedition has begun! I dropped him off this morning at URI at the new Inner Space Station that is being built at Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island. He is traveling on the Endeavor (about a 175 foot ship) down to the Virginia Capes. His expedition is going down there to look for some ship wrecks and to use this cool new sonar machine (can't remember the name of it!).
We left around 6:30 a.m. and when we got there I helped him bring this stuff down to his tiny bunk. It's pretty tiny! Jared will be on board to do filming of the ship and do a behind the scenes account of what goes on on the expedition. That entails talking to the scientists, watching the ROV's (Remotely Operated Vehicles) get launched and learning all about the new sonar machine.
I took his picture on the boat (but sadly forgot my camera so it's on his until he gets back!). And I talked to the captain to make sure they did not run into Hurricane Bertha on the way since she is also on going that way. But he did say they would run into some heavy swells. Jared will be popping the dramamine (no idea how to spell that!).
I know he'll have a great time and learn a lot but I can't wait to have him back already! I'll be sure to post his accounts and photos as I get them!
