Today I am grateful for friends.

Tonight is our monthly ladies night. Ever since we were freshmen in high school we've done ladies night. It started on Tuesday nights when it was free for us to play pool at this local joint. We'd go in there and the guy would put on Rusted Root for me (my fave!). We started out as many.
As the years went by, less of us went but we kept up the tradition. Once we were all in college, it was less frequent but once we all finished we started monthly ladies nights; just the four of us: Kathleen, Betty, Holly, and me.
We all got jobs, we moved out on our own, got married, and now are having children but the first week of every month, we make an effort to get together. Even if it's just an hour or two for dinner and drinks. We meet, catch up on the gossip, and get that time together we've had since high school. These ladies are the only ones I still keep in touch with from high school because we've all made the effort to keep it up.
We don't chat as often as I'd like and we don't see each other as often as I'd like but that monthly night is our bond and our promise to each other to stay friends forever! (corny, yes, but it works!)
Every once in a while at ladies night we'll see four really old ladies and I know one day that will be us. For now, we all enjoy our monthly catchups and now our kids birthday parties.
Cheers to being friends forever. Love you, girls!
